English Department Technology Use and Educational Purposes

Projector

The projector is used in a majority of English classes to show PowerPoints, to walk students through Internet assignments, and to project information from the computer.

ELMO

The ELMO is utilized to show hard copies of tests, magazine and newspaper articles, portions of books, student compositions, and other documents.

AirLiner

Teachers use the AirLiner in a number of functions in the classroom. One of it's primary benefits is allowing the teacher to maintain classroom managaement while manipulating the view from the projector. Teachers use the AirLiner to advance PowerPoints, to write on the content on the screen, to highlight specific parts of text, and to edit and comment on papers.

Online Tools

Some teachers in the English Department are also using Blogs and Wikis to enhance instruction.

Microphone

The microphone enables teachers to teach with vocal amplification. For many of us, the microphone helps convey information and assists in preserving our voices.

DVD/VCR

English teachers use the DVD/VCR combo to show VHS and DVD clips. It is also used to show Jag TV.
